Inside Line Promotions – BARBERVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 14, 2018) – Kerry Madsen continued to be a top-10 machine during the DIRTcar Nationals last week at Volusia Speedway Park.

Madsen and the Muddy sponsored Big Game Motorsports team scored four top-10 finishes in five races, including a trio of sixth-place results. It gives Madsen 17 top 10s in his last 23 main events at the track.

“Guy Forbrook and the team does a great job of giving me a fast race car night in and night out,” Madsen said. “It’s great to be consistent so early in the season. That consistency is what will lead us to winning races.”

The first two nights, which were Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions shows, were nearly identical as Madsen qualified third quickest in his group, won a heat race, placed fourth in the dash and advanced from eighth to sixth in the main event on both Wednesday and Thursday.

“The track was fairly heavy and fast for most of the night so passing was at a premium, but on a positive note we were really fast at the end of the A Main both nights,” he said.

Friday showcased the first of three straight World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series races at the oval. The Muddy backed team timed in 12th quickest overall before a third-place finish in a heat race, which missed the dash by only one position, lined Madsen up 12th in the A Main. He gained a handful of positions to finish eighth.

Madsen was again on point on Saturday when he qualified second quickest, won a heat race for the third time in four nights and advanced from sixth to fourth place in the dash to start the main event on the outside of the second row.

“We put ourselves in a good position to contend for the win,” he said. “We had a great battle for third for a while, but ended up losing a couple of positions in traffic toward the end of the race.”

A sixth-place result led the Muddy backed team into Sunday’s finale with momentum. Unfortunately, a high pill draw to start the night sent Madsen out late in qualifying on a track that slowed down. He timed in 20th quickest, which started him near the back of a heat race.

Madsen placed seventh in the heat before garnering a runner-up result in the Last Chance Showdown. That earned a transfer into the back of the main event and Madsen continued to move forward as he powered to a 16th-place finish.

The team will be off the next couple of weeks as Madsen will return to Australia for one final weekend of the action before rejoining the Muddy sponsored team Feb. 28 and March 1 at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas in Las Vegas for the FVP Outlaw Showdown with the World of Outlaws.
