Inside Line Promotions – JACKSON, Minn. (June 11, 2018) – Big Game Motorsports driver Kerry Madsen highlighted the 40th annual AGCO Jackson Nationals with a top-10 outing on Saturday afternoon at Jackson Motorplex.

Rain postponed Thursday’s opening round of the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series tripleheader. The Muddy sponsored team returned to the 4/10-mile oval on Friday and Madsen qualified ninth quickest in his group before he placed fifth in a heat race to lock into the 18th starting position in the main event.

“The first night we didn’t qualify where we should have,” he said. “The track was really heavy because of all the rain so it was tough to make up any ground. We went forward in the A Main though.”

Madsen gained a handful of positions to finish 14th.

Preliminary competition concluded on Saturday afternoon. Madsen qualified second quickest in his group and he won a heat race to earn a spot into the dash. Unfortunately, he drew the highest number – eight – to start the dash last. Madsen gained one position to finish seventh, which lined him up on the inside of the fourth row for the A Main.

“We were really good in the afternoon show,” he said. “We were strong early in the main event, but in the middle part of the race I lost some ground in traffic. At the end we were really good again.”

Madsen finished with a seventh-place result. That ranked him eighth in overall event points leading into Saturday night’s finale. A runner-up finish in a heat race lined Madsen up 12th for the $40,000-to-win main event.

“I was expecting to charge through the field,” he said. “We had some real bad corners early and lost a bunch of ground and never caught back up. We had an open red there and Guy (Forbrook) made some changes that made the car a lot better. We just couldn’t make the ground up. It was a disappointing result, but that’s the way it goes sometimes.”

Madsen ended 16th.

The Muddy backed team will return to World of Outlaws competition this Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., for the Northern Tour and Sunday at Nodak Speedway in Minot, N.D., for the Magic City Showdown. Madsen last competed at both tracks in 2015 when he posted top 10s at both ovals.
