Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (April 15, 2019) – Kerry Madsen is optimistic following the season-opening race for Big Game Motorsports.
The KI Crossbows backed team ventured to Devil’s Bowl Speedway last Friday for the Texas Outlaw Nationals featuring the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.
“We didn’t quite have the balance right,” Madsen said. “We got caught up in hot laps and didn’t get clean laps in. In qualifying we didn’t have the balance quite right and didn’t time as good as we should have.”
Madsen qualified 15th quickest overall. He then finished where he started – fifth – in a heat race. That lined him up on the inside of the eighth row for the main event.
“We worked on it a little and the balance was good,” he said. “Unfortunately, it laid rubber about five laps in. I passed a few more cars than the results show, but I gave them back trying to stay out of the rubber longer than I should have. We were making good progress and I was really happy with how the race car felt.”
Madsen ended with an 11th-place result. His four positions gained in the feature was tied for the second-most cars passed.
“We found a few things throughout the night that we rectified,” he said. “Everyone else has been racing for two months so we’ll be on our back foot for a little. I felt really good where we ended the night though. Hopefully we can start strong with good speed next weekend at Knoxville.”
Last Saturday’s event finale rained out.
The team is scheduled to compete this Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
