Inside Line Promotions – HAUBSTADT, Ind. (May 6, 2019) – Kerry Madsen posted his season-best result last Saturday at Knoxville Raceway, where he guided the KI Crossbows backed Big Game Motorsports to a second-place finish.

The night began with a sixth-place qualifying effort before Madsen maneuvered from fifth to third place in a heat race. That lined him up on the inside of the second row for the A Main.

“We were a little off in qualifying, but we were good in the heat and really good in the A Main,” he said. “The car was capable of winning. I was trying to pass the leader and gave away second. I made one mistake and got away with it and did the same thing a second time and got passed for second. I went for a slide job in turns one and two and I lost all my momentum.”

Madsen ran second for the early laps before dropping to third. However, a three-car battle for the lead ensued in traffic prior to a red flag near the midpoint of the feature.

“We were about to pounce in turns three and four, but the red came out,” he said.

Madsen restarted third and regained the runner-up position soon after, but he was unable to get back to the leader before the race ended. His second-place finish marked the team’s second podium in four races this year.

“It’s still a good result,” he said. “We’re fighting for the win.”

Big Game Motorsports is heading to Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, this Friday and Saturday for a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader. Madsen ranks sixth in all-time World of Outlaws wins at the track with six triumphs.

“We’re excited,” he said. “Once again it’s a new team so it’ll be good to go there and get some laps for later in the year. You know the feel you want. Hopefully we can get up to speed and be competitive. We’re heading in the right direction.”
