Inside Line Promotions – PEVELY, Mo. (Aug. 7, 2019) – Kraig Kinser highlighted the Ironman 55 weekend with a top-10 performance on Friday at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55.

Kinser kicked off the two-day World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event by qualifying fourth quickest. He then placed second in a heat race and fourth in the dash to line up on the outside of the second row for the A Main.

“It comes down to qualifying and making the dash,” he said. “Starting up front helps and that’s what we were able to do.”

Kinser hustled to a seventh-place result, which was his 15th top 10 of the season.

He returned to the oval on Saturday for the weekend finale. Kinser qualified sixth quickest and ended third in a heat race to line up on the inside of the fifth row for the 55-lap main event.

“I was happy with our early performance and disappointed with our feature results both nights,” he said. “We took a swing at the feature and it just wasn’t very good. We missed a little on the setup and got off balance a little bit. I made some mistakes, too.”

Kinser managed a 16th-place finish during the non-stop race.

His attention now shifts to the 59th annual NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores, which runs this Wednesday through Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.

“It’s what everyone looks forward to every year,” he said. “It’s no different for us. We’ll try to put our best foot forward and do what we can do. It all starts with your pill draw. Then you have to lay down a good qualifying lap. You try to be as quick as you can every time you hit the track.”

Kinser won winged sprint car racing’s biggest event in 2005.
