Inside Line Promotions – SELINSGROVE, Pa. (Sept. 16, 2019) – Kerry Madsen recorded back-to-back top-five finishes last weekend in Central Pennsylvania.

The KI Crossbows backed driver scored a third-place outing on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg before capping the weekend with a fourth-place run on Saturday at Selinsgrove Speedway during the Jim Nace Memorial 37th annual National Open presented by Red Robin.

“We qualified well both nights and we were on the bumper of the car in front of us for 25 laps on Friday and 40 laps on Saturday,” he said. “We were in contention. We were really quick both nights every time we hit the track. But both nights it rained a little so you knew it’d be on the quicker side.”

Big Game Motorsports was fast throughout the weekend, beginning on Friday with the third quickest qualifying time at Williams Grove Speedway. Madsen then advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race before he finished third in the A Main.

Saturday marked Madsen’s first start at Selinsgrove Speedway since August 2006, but it didn’t show. He established a new track record while setting quick time during qualifying.

“It’s a confidence builder with the team,” he said. “For whatever reason earlier in the year qualifying wasn’t my strong suit. We made a good lap and kept the car straight and we ended with a good time. The way the formats are these days you need to be starting up front to have a shot at these races.”

A run from fourth to third in a heat race again put Madsen in striking position during the main event as he lined up fourth. He maintained a top five throughout the race before finishing fourth, which was his 13th top five of the season.

“Every time we’d get into traffic and the field would tighten up we’d have a yellow,” he said. “I was close a couple of times for third, but just couldn’t make the pass.”

Madsen is slated to compete with the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions this Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Saturday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa.; and Sunday at Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Md.

“I’m looking forward to the weekend,” he said. “We want to keep working on our race car package. It feels like we’re gelling.”
