Inside Line Promotions – TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (July 14, 2020) – Kerry Madsen tied his season-best performance with a runner-up result last Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.

Madsen led the Killer Instinct Crossbows sponsored Big Game Motorsports team to the quickest time in qualifying at the half-mile oval in Knoxville, Iowa, before advancing two positions to place second in a heat race. Madsen gained two more spots in the A Main to garner a second-place showing.

“We were really good again,” he said. “I felt like we were going to get (Brian) Brown, but the yellows and reds kept coming out. We never got a long enough run. Then we had an open red and he adjusted his line to the line I was running. We just really needed to get into traffic.”

The podium outing was the highlight of a three-race weekend that was riddled with misfortune.

Madsen qualified second quickest, won a heat race, placed third in the dash and was running third late in the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series main event on Friday at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa.

“We were running third most of the race,” he said. “Someone jumped the cushion. I went to pass him for second. He got discombobulated and came across and we ended up on our lid so that was a DNF.”

A similar ending halted a strong run on Sunday during a World of Outlaws event at Terre Haute Action Track. Madsen nearly duplicated Friday’s outing, timing in second quickest, winning a heat race, finishing second in the dash and running inside the top five when a crash occurred late in the feature.

“Our car wouldn’t really go on restarts and it was a race that had a restart every two laps,” he said. “On a restart a guy hit a rut, came up and took us out.

“The improvement and progress are there so I’m super happy about that. We’re starting to put ourselves there. It’s just a matter of getting the job done.”

Big Game Motorsports has a busy four-race weekend on tap. It begins on Tuesday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, during the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic with the World of Outlaws. The team will then head east for Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 races on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and on Saturday and Sunday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa.
