Inside Line Promotions – PORT ROYAL, Pa. (July 20, 2020) – Kerry Madsen highlighted a four-race week with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series and the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 with a podium performance last Friday.

The Killer Instinct Crossbows backed Big Game Motorsports team placed third on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa. Unfortunately, it marked the only feature of the week that Madsen escaped unscathed.

Madsen was fast once again last Tuesday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, which hosted the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic for the World of Outlaws. He set quick time during his group’s qualifying session before winning a heat race. An eighth-place result in the dash lined him up on the outside of the fourth row for the main event. Unfortunately, another driver made contact in turn four while Madsen was battling inside the top 10. The incident resulted in a DNF.

“We were really good and were going to have a really good run, but for some reason a driver took it upon himself to take us out,” he said. “It tore up a lot of cars.”

A trio of All Star shows followed beginning on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway, where Madsen qualified third quickest overall, placed fourth in a heat race, won a dash and battled for the lead early in the feature before finishing third.

“On Friday we had a really good car and I was trying to pass for the lead at one point,” he said. “I feel like if I could do the race again maybe I could have got that pass done and gone on to win, but I feel really happy with a top three. I was really happy with the car all night.”

Misfortune returned on back-to-back nights at Port Royal Speedway during the famed Bob Weikert Memorial. Madsen was running inside the top 10 on both Saturday and Sunday when his night ended early. He was caught up in a crash on Saturday and a blown right rear tire in the closing laps on Sunday hampered his results.

“The first night at Port Royal we weren’t very good in the heat and missed the redraw,” he said. “A couple of laps in we got into something. It was unfortunate because we didn’t get time on our setup to see what we had for the A Main.

“On Sunday it was a struggle to get going on early runs, but midrace I felt like I was coming on pretty good. There was a yellow around Lap 20. The right rear tire started going down. After that I was hanging on until it blew.”

Next up is a World of Outlaws show on Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., for the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Madsen said. “Cody (Jacobs) has been there a lot and I’ve had some good success there as well.”
