Inside Line Promotions – PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Sept. 14, 2020) – Kerry Madsen was one of only four drivers to capture a top-10 result during all three nights of the famed Tuscarora 50 last weekend at Port Royal Speedway.

The Killer Instinct Crossbows sponsored driver guided Big Game Motorsports to a runner-up result on Thursday, a sixth-place finish on Friday and a ninth-place showing on Saturday during the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions tripleheader.

“You have to be perfect at these big races to win,” Madsen said. “The balance is there. I feel like we had our race car really good all three nights.”

The action began on Thursday with Madsen setting quick time during qualifying. He then advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race and placed second in a dash to line up fourth for the A Main.

“I felt our first night was really good and we had a really good race car,” he said. “We battled with Tony Stewart for a bit of the way and finally got him at the end.”

The second-place performance was Madsen’s 13th top five of the season.

The team timed in 13th quickest overall on Friday. A third-place result in a heat race locked Madsen into a dash, which he won to garner the pole position for the main event.

“On Friday we were really good in the dash,” he said. “Then on the first lap of the feature I lost a couple of spots. We faded a bit there at the end. The track was super slick. It was good though because we wanted to get some laps on a slick track to dial our car in for Saturday night.”

Madsen finished sixth and he continued to run well during Saturday’s finale. He qualified third quickest overall out of the 50-plus drivers. A third-place run in a heat race gave him the eighth starting position for the 50-lap main event.

“We were really good early, but the last half the left rear tire shrunk and we didn’t have the speed we had before,” he said. “It just got worse as the race went on. That was a shame to be honest.”

Madsen salvaged a ninth-place finish. It was his 31st top 10 of the season.

The team is slated to race this Wednesday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa., before tackling Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 races on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., for the Jack Gunn Memorial and Saturday at Lincoln Speedway for the Dirt Classic.

“We were really good at Williams Grove last time so we have confidence and our car has been good at Lincoln so we’ll see what happens,” Madsen said.
